Thailand’s Crime Suppression Division has detained former esports competitor Naphat ‘Tokyogurl’ Warasin along with an accomplice, after investigators concluded she cheated during the 33rd SEA Games in December 2025. The case centres on the Arena of Valor tournament, where suspicions first surfaced during Thailand’s match against Vietnam.

Tokyogurl later admitted that her partner had been playing remotely in her place during the competition. According to the Bangkok Post, she and former semi-professional Arena of Valor player ‘Cheerio’ were charged with colluding to obtain and disclose restricted computer access credentials and unlawfully accessing computer data protected by security measures.

Investigators determined that Cheerio had logged into Tokyogurl’s device before the fixture and remained in communication while the match was underway. The breach of tournament rules led to Thailand’s disqualification from the SEA Games event.

During subsequent searches, authorities reportedly uncovered evidence across several mobile phones allegedly used to coordinate the remote play while Tokyogurl was physically present at the venue. Cheerio later admitted he had been competing via software installed on Tokyogurl’s phone.

Beyond their removal from the tournament, both individuals were found to have violated Thailand’s Computer Crime Act, legislation that outlaws unauthorised access to online accounts and system manipulation for unfair advantage. Offences under the Act carry penalties of up to two years in prison and a maximum fine of 40,000 baht, approximately £942.

Police Major General Pattanasak Bubphasuwan, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division said:

“This case is not a simple game fraud. It is a technological crime that harms the dignity and honor of the nation.”

Following their arrest and guilty pleas, the matter has been forwarded to the Pathum Wan District Prosecutor’s Office. A court verdict has been scheduled for March 17th.
