CRYMELIGHT has officially been revealed with the release of its announcement trailer, introducing a dark, story-driven roguelike action game set in a surreal afterlife.
Developed and published by FURYU Corporation, CRYMELIGHT places players in a mysterious world described as a prison for the souls of the dead. The trailer sets a somber tone from the outset, hinting at a narrative built around guilt, memory, and redemption—key themes that are reinforced by the game’s core premise.
At the centre of the story is a girl with no memory, given the name Alice by a guide known as the White Rabbit. She is drawn into a deadly “game” within this afterlife, where the only way to achieve freedom is to defeat a figure known as the Queen. Along the way, she encounters other characters burdened by their own pasts, with the narrative exploring their regrets and personal struggles.
Gameplay is built around a roguelike action structure, combining fast-paced combat with systems designed to evolve across repeated runs. Players battle through the Queen’s domain while gradually becoming stronger, with each attempt feeding into long-term progression. The announcement trailer highlights this loop, showing combat encounters alongside moments that suggest character growth and narrative development.
One of the more distinctive mechanics is the game’s “poker system,” where players collect skill cards to form combinations that influence combat abilities. Stronger hands result in more powerful effects, adding a strategic layer to battles that goes beyond simple action gameplay. This system encourages experimentation, with each run offering different potential builds depending on the cards collected.
Another notable feature is the “Wonder Dimension,” a mechanic that dynamically alters combat. As enemies are defeated, this dimension expands across the battlefield, increasing player power and accelerating the pace of action.
